SMAR (St. Mary and Archangel Raphael) Coptic Orthodox Church stands as a beacon of faith in Old Bridge Township. We are a member of the Coptic Orthodox Archdiocese in North America, under the patriarchal jurisdiction of the Coptic Orthdox Patriarchate of Alexandria.
"He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much." (Luke 16:10)
In line with the mission statement of the Scouts of America, we seek to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Scouts is held every Saturday from 12:30pm-2pm at the preschool (269 NJ-34, Matawan, NJ 07747).
"But Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.'" (Matthew 19:14)
We seek to raise our children in the fear of God, and the Sunday School service through the coordination of all the servants works tirelessly to do so.
Sunday School is held every Saturday from 10:30am-11:30am, while the College and Young Adults (CYA) meeting is held every Friday from 8pm-10pm, all at the preschool (269 NJ-34, Matawan, NJ 07747).
"I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:5)
"Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine." (1 Timothy 4:13)
Praise is the language of the heavenly, and we seek that the entire church be able to praise the Lord with the Coptic Orthodox Church's rich history of hymns.
In addition to praise, it is the duty of every Christian to be well-versed in the Holy Scriptures.
Hymns & Bible Study are held every Friday from 6:30pm-8pm at the preschool (269 NJ-34, Matawan, NJ 07747).
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25)
We seek to foster an environment where the faithful ladies of our church can gather and become closer to God and to each other.
The Ladies Meeting is held every Friday from 6:30pm-8pm at the preschool (269 NJ-34, Matawan, NJ 07747).
